1. Once you are sign in to google, Click the 9 dots at the top right of the screen. Then click on account (the first icon).
2. It will open your account settings, then click on security on the left side menu. Scroll down slightly, to the 'Signing in to Google' heading, and then click on '2 Step Verification'.
3. Click through the get started page, and enter your phone number when prompted.
4. You will then get a code sent to the number you have provided, either via text or phone call. On this screen enter the code you have been given, without the 'G-' at the beginning.
5. Now your phone is verified, you can turn on 2 step verification. 2 step will only need to verify it is you when signing on to a new device from now on.
6. You will now have the option to set up other 2 step verification options too. We would recommend downloading the Google Authenticator App which can be used for alot of accounts to verify it is you, not just your google account. If you have a security key, this would also be a recommended choice.
